The ionic selenium possesses an electrical charge, is water soluble (with highly bioavailable angstrom sized ions) and are cell available - available for full absorption into the human cell. These tiny micro ions can be absorbed so rapidly into the skin cells allowing them to be 99% effective. The other, L-selenomethionine, is a naturally occurring amino acid and main source of selenium found in Brazil nuts, cereal grains, soybeans, grassland legumes. Selenium fights free radicals, minimizes skin damage and inflammation and helps prevent cancer. Together with vitamin E they boost glutathione** which helps skin heal and potent it from harmful sun rays and infection. **FYI: Dr. Prasad is a renowned and preeminent expert on micronutrients, authored Micronutrients in Health and Disease, and is a Nobel Prize Council scientific physician. He and his colleagues were the first to show the vitamin E could kill cancer cells in 1979, and his research on micronutrients has since revolutionized modern medicine. He quotes, "Selenium is an important co-factor for glutathione peroxidase that increases the glutathione level in your skin cells. Glutathione is a very important antioxidant." Selenium is integral to our health and recent research reveals that it is best absorbed through our skin!

SENNA (AUGUSTAFOLIA & OBTUSIFOLIA): Augustafolia - botanically high molecular polysaccharide derived from the seeds of their native Indian plant. It;'s rich in flavones, including baicalein, which does NOT cause any mutations - which is a serious problem of many conventional anticancer medications! It also has anti-inflammatory properties.

TRIMETHYLGLYCINE (BETAINE): TMG is an amino acid derivative, first discovered in beets, but also is found in broccoli, spinach and grains, and, has many benefits the skin. These include hydration, anti-aging, soothing the skin, giving it a dewy plumped look. As an osmolyte (balances water to cells by osmosis), betaine's (TMG) structure enables it to attract moisture and help maintain cell water balance. Research has found that betide can also improve tight junction integrity - these are protein bonds that prevent leakage of solutes and water between cells, thus preventing water loss through the skin. This helps with anti-aging, works as an anti-irritant, and is a skin texture enhancer.

Similar to zinc oxide, titanium dioxide is very white which helps reflect the sunlight away from the skin blocking the UV radiation that damages the skin cells. We use just enough to allow some sunlight to penetrate our skin for a Vitamin D boost.

UBIQUINONE (CoQ10): coenzyme Q10 - is naturally occurring in the body as well as in plants. At the cellular level, it functions as a mobile component of the mitochondrial electron transport chain (transports energy ATP and for cellular respiration/breathing), and, it has been shown to be a membrane antioxidant. As we age, CoQ10 diminishes which affects the aging process. It can protect the skin cell layers from UV radiation, improve collagen and elastin production.

VEGETABLE GLYCERIN: Also known as a glycerol, it is a natural compound derived from vegetable oils. Glycerin is a humectant, a type of moisturizing agent that pulls water into the outer layer of the skin (stratum corneum) from deeper levels of the skin and the air. Besides hydrating the outer skin layer, improving the skin barrier and protecting against skin irritants, glycerin is used as a thickener for lotions and serums, but also shampoos, conditions and foods.

It rejuvenates the skin. Unlike some forms of Vitamin A, palmitate is a retinoid (retinol) and is bioavailable, meaning it is easily absorbed into the skin and used efficiently. It's stability is superior to retinol; helps exfoliate the skin, remove dirt and dead skin cells from pores preventing pimples. It penetrates deeply to stimulate collagen and elastin production, reducing the appearance of pore and acne scarring. It also promotes new blood vessels and makes the skin soft and plump. B12: When combined with avocado oil, it works to relieve the itchy, dryness of psoriasis and eczema. B12 has rejuvenating qualities for hydrating dry skin tissue, stimulating growth of new skin cells and preventing wrinkles caused by aging. It also stimulates the growth of new blood cells. It has high levels of caffeine, which have vasoconstriction and circulation boosting properties. This is good for people with bags under their eyes, swelling or puffiness. Studies have shown that caffeine does in fact reduce dark circles and wrinkles while boosting elasticity. It is a rich source of Vitamin B3 (niacin), chlorogenic acid (can reduce hyperpigmentation & inflammation). It protects the skin from bacterial growth and from harmful sun damage.

ZINC OXIDE: A natural non-nano earth mineral (non-nano means it hasn't been refined to make smaller molecules to penetrate the skin's surface). This mineral is mined from the ground and naturally reflects the sunlight due to its molecular size and color (white). We use the non-nano so it can create a barrier on the skin for protection and increase the SPF value of our moisturizers. It still allows the sun to penetrate just enough to activate the Vitamin D below the skin's surface. Our skin cells need zinc for its anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, healing, and antibacterial properties.

ASTAXANTHAN RED ALGAE: A very potent antioxidant, known as a carotenoid, found in various foods but mostly in algae (bright red/orange in color). Its antioxidant properties are more potent than Vitamin C, E, beta-carotene & lycopene.
